MISSION

The Fine Arts Preservation Society of New Orleans addresses the contemporary need for archiving techniques associated with the visual arts.

Few cities have played as significant a role in the history of American culture as New Orleans, which has long been home to one of the nation’s most diverse cultural communities. The threat of loss to traditional visual languages is severe, and without a library for future reference visual culture is at risk of losing its history regarding practice.

Through regular conferences, symposia, exhibitions, and learning opportunities; the society will bring together scholars, practicing artists, and historians that specialize in endangered techniques and processes in the visual arts.

Associated workshops, lectures, exhibitions and archiving projects will allow cross cultural connection and provide resources for future generations.
